Writing and posting quality post is not enough for having blogging success. You also have to provide information to search engines about you blog and meta description is the way to do that. It’s useful for search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing etc. Meta tags have significant values in SEO process of your Blog or Site. It tells search engine’s crawler about the webpage and it is also picked us as snippets in search result and as a description when you share on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other social networks. Writing a proper meta description makes your search results better means more clicks or visits. Now let's go for adding Blogger Meta tags. Follow the below steps to set description and meta description in your blogger blog.
1. Adding Meta description to blogger homepage.
First off we need to enable meta description for blogger by adding one for home page of the blog.
1. Log in to your Blog’s Dashboard then; go to your Settings > Search preferences > Meta tags > Description and click the 'Edit'.
2. If you haven't enabled search description then, enable it by clicking 'Yes'.
3. Now enter the meta description for your blog, this will appear on your homepage and other multi-post pages.
4. After adding Meta description, click on 'Save changes'. Now wait for a few days, then search your blog on Google, you will see the Meta description there.
You have successfully enabled and added a new meta description for you blog’s home page.
2. Adding Meta Description to Each Blog Posts and Pages
After enabling Meta description to blog's homepage, you will see some change in your post or page editor. You will see a search description option, you have the choice to add Meta description to a specific blog post.
1. Edit your posts, pages or oreate a new one, you will see ‘Search Description’ option under Post settings.
2. Click on ‘Search Description’ option under Post settings and enter the meta description for the post and click 'Done'. You have to edit each post manually for adding meta description in older posts.
You can check or test online if it works, by submitting your home URL or any post URL in Meta Tag Analyzer tool.
